Our first day on the road is something we will never forget.
We woke up early, excited and a little nervous. Everything was ready or at least we thought it was. The van was packed, the ingredients were fresh, and we had picked a local spot where people often gathered.
Then reality started to kick in.
The setup took longer than expected. We forgot small but important things. At one point, we couldn’t find a tool we needed, even though we had checked everything the night before. Orders came in faster than we thought, and we were still figuring out how to work smoothly in a small space.
There were moments of stress. We made mistakes. We had to ask people to wait longer than planned.
But something else was happening at the same time.
People were kind.
Customers smiled, encouraged us, and told us they were excited to see a local burger van. Some stayed and talked with us while waiting. Others came back later that same day.
And then there was the food.
Despite everything going wrong around us, the burgers came out right. Fresh, warm, and full of flavor. When we saw people enjoying them, it changed everything. That feeling made all the stress worth it.
By the end of the day, we were tired more tired than we expected. But we were also proud.
We didn’t have a perfect start. We didn’t look like a polished business. But we showed up, we learned, and we connected with people.
That first day taught us something important: it’s not about being perfect. It’s about being real, showing effort, and caring about what you do.
Since then, we’ve improved a lot. We work faster, plan better, and feel more confident. But we still remember that first day not for the mistakes, but for the feeling that we were finally doing something that mattered.
