Every day at Chumba Burger starts early.
Before the road, before the first customer, there is preparation. We check our ingredients, organize the space inside the van, and make sure everything is clean and ready. It’s a routine we’ve learned to respect, because a good day always starts with good preparation.
Once we arrive at a location, things slowly come to life.
At first, it’s quiet. We set up, turn on the grill, and wait. Then the first customer walks up. Sometimes it’s someone curious, sometimes it’s someone who already knows us. Either way, that first order always feels special.
As the day goes on, the pace changes.
There are busy moments when orders come one after another. We move quickly, but we try not to rush. Every burger still needs attention. Every order matters. Working in a small space teaches you how to stay organized, calm, and focused at the same time.
Between orders, there are conversations.
We talk with customers, hear their stories, and share a few of our own. These small interactions are part of what makes this work meaningful. It never feels like just a transaction.
Afternoons can be unpredictable. Some days are steady, others are quiet. But even during slower moments, there is always something to do cleaning, prepping, or simply taking a short break before the next wave.
As the day comes to an end, we clean everything again. The van may be small, but keeping it in order takes effort. It’s the final step before heading home.
By then, we’re usually tired. But it’s a good kind of tired.
Every day is a little different, but the feeling is the same we spent the day doing honest work, serving real food, and connecting with people along the way.
